Find Talbot County Released Inmates

Talbot County released inmates require more than a check of the live jail roster. A Talbot County released inmate search should trace the custody event through county discharge records, Maryland corrections tools, court files, and post-release supervision sources. Talbot County released inmates may have returned to the community or moved to another custodian, so a missing roster name is only a starting point. To search for Talbot County released inmates with care, match the source to the jail, state, federal, or immigration system the person actually left.

Understanding Talbot County Releases

A person is released from Talbot County custody when the county jail’s legal control ends through discharge, release, withdrawal, or transfer. That last word matters. A lawful departure may return someone to the community, but it may instead move the person to another Maryland county, the state prison system, federal custody, or immigration custody. Death or escape can also remove a person from an ordinary roster view without being a community release. The most accurate statement identifies the custody system that ended and does not assume what came next.

The Talbot County Department of Corrections runs the county’s sole adult detention facility and central booking center. The Sheriff does not operate a separate jail. Corrections holds the booking, custody, and discharge record, while the Sheriff may hold arrest reports or evidence from its own case. Courts document release authority, bond, case outcomes, sentences, and probation. Each office answers a different part of the release story.

Why did the name leave the roster? Talbot’s public roster shows current custody only. A missing name does not identify release, transfer, escape, or another outcome.

Talbot County Release Types

Release terms describe the legal path out of a custody episode. They should not be treated as synonyms. A court order may authorize release, yet Corrections still must check warrants, detainers, and paperwork before the person leaves. A charge row may also show bond or court-order wording while another case still holds the person. The overall booking and actual discharge record control the physical event.

Release typeWhat it meansBest next source
Bond or recognizanceA court or Commissioner authorized pretrial release subject to stated terms.Court docket plus Corrections discharge record
Time served or sentence expirationThe local term ended after sentence and custody-time calculations.Sentencing docket plus Corrections calculation
Dismissal, acquittal, or nolle prosequiThe court ended charges in a stated way, but the jail exit remains a separate event. Both Talbot courts plus discharge record
Parole or mandatory supervisionA state sentence continues under conditional supervision outside prison.Parole records, VINE, and supervision office
TransferTalbot custody ended because another authorized custodian received the person.Talbot transfer record and receiving system
ProbationA court-ordered community term may follow jail or may be imposed without prison.Court docket and Division of Parole and Probation

Discharge means the end of the named custodian’s control. Time served means the sentence obligation was met through custody time applied to the term. Detainer means another authority asks that custody continue or that the person be held for transfer. These terms explain why the same roster change can lead to very different outcomes.

Note: A release code should be read with the full booking because another case or detainer may still control custody.

Talbot County Release Record Fields

A useful Talbot County release record ties a person to one custody episode and records how that episode ended. The county has not posted its exact discharge form or a list of its release codes. Therefore, these are precise fields to request, not a promise that each will appear on one sheet. Use a booking or offender number whenever possible because names can be shared or spelled in more than one way.

Field to requestWhat it can show
Recorded name and date of birthIdentity tied to the custody episode
Booking or offender numberUnique link to the jail record
Booking date and agencyWhen and through whom county custody began
Actual release date and timeWhen Corrections recorded the end of custody
Release reason or dispositionBond, sentence completion, transfer, or another coded outcome
Destination or transfer agencyWhere the person went next, if recorded and disclosable
Court or case numberConnection to the order, charge, or sentence

Dates need clear labels. A booking date, court-order date, projected date, parole-approval date, VINE alert time, and actual discharge time may all differ. For physical departure from Talbot custody, the actual discharge field is strongest. A court order explains legal authority. VINE reports an event sent by a participating source. None should be relabeled as another.

Note: Ask for destination data only if recorded and disclosable, since some fields may be redacted or lawfully withheld.

Request Talbot County Release Records

The county’s Public Information Act process is the documentary route for a Talbot Corrections discharge record. Ask for existing records rather than asking the custodian to research a question. A narrow request can seek the booking sheet, actual release date and time, recorded release type, transfer destination if disclosable, and booking photograph for one named booking period.

  1. Download the county request form and name Talbot County Corrections as the office whose records are sought.
  2. Give the full name, date of birth if known, booking number, and a bounded date range.
  3. List the existing discharge fields or documents wanted. Do not ask the county to create a new report.
  4. Send the form to the County PIA Representative at the Office of Law, 11 N. Washington Street, Easton, MD 21601, or use vbradley@talbotcountymd.gov.
  5. Keep the request, response, record identifiers, and any explanation of redaction or nonexistence together.

Maryland law calls for a prompt grant or denial and ordinarily requires action within 30 days. If more than ten working days are expected, the custodian must give notice within ten working days with the anticipated time, cost, and reason. Fees must relate to actual costs, and the first two hours of search and preparation are free. Records may still be withheld or redacted under a lawful exception.

The official Talbot County PIA page identifies the form and county records route.

Note: Sheriff Records handles Sheriff case files, not the county jail’s booking and discharge record.

Talbot Release Records Under Maryland Law

Maryland General Provisions §4-201 generally directs a custodian to allow inspection of a public record at a reasonable time, subject to Title 4. Sections 4-202 and 4-203 govern applications and timing. Section 4-206 addresses reasonable actual-cost fees and the two free hours. A photograph can qualify as a public-record form under §4-101, but that does not make every booking photo automatically available.

Investigatory, privacy, safety, juvenile, sealed, and expunged restrictions can limit disclosure. Maryland expungement removes qualifying court and law-enforcement records through a legal process. Shielding restricts eligible material from public Case Search. Online disappearance and government retention are different: Talbot’s public JailTracker is current-only, while no official public schedule was found stating how long the county keeps the underlying booking and discharge file.

Record limits: A missing public entry does not prove a custody event never occurred. Respect sealing, shielding, expungement, and lawful redactions.

Talbot Bond Decisions and Release

The District Court Commissioner station sits inside Talbot County Detention Center. The official Commissioner directory lists weekday service from 8 a.m. to midnight and on-call coverage overnight and on weekends. That arrangement allows initial bail and release-condition decisions outside ordinary clerk hours. It does not create a public release schedule, and it does not mean a person leaves as soon as the Commissioner acts.

Corrections must complete the jail process. Staff may need to verify an order, check another case, resolve a warrant or detainer, and finish records or property steps. Use the Commissioner or court docket for the release authority, then use Corrections for the actual end of Talbot custody. Calling the order time a door-out time would merge two separate facts.

Talbot Bookings Are Not Releases

Talbot’s historical financial report recorded 669 bookings and an average daily population of 88 for fiscal year 2022. The county’s current facility description reports an average daily population of about 80. Both figures add context to the detention operation, but neither is a release count. A booking can end in community release, transfer, continued detention beyond the period, or another result.

669FY2022 bookings, not releases

About 80Current county population description

Do not subtract population figures or compare roster snapshots to manufacture a release total. Such math cannot identify the legal outcome of any booking. The direct source remains the discharge record for the custody episode.

Find Talbot County Released Inmates

Start with the system the person actually left. Talbot JailTracker can rule in current county custody, but a no-match cannot rule in release. Maryland Case Search supplies the court history. VINE adds custody and case-event alerts. Records from Corrections establish the completed Talbot custody episode. State, federal, and immigration tools belong later in the chain only when a transfer or sentence points to those systems.

  1. Search the exact name in Talbot JailTracker and note the date checked. A current match supports current displayed county custody.
  2. If no match appears, call Talbot Corrections at 410-770-8120 and ask for the public release-confirmation or records route.
  3. Search both Talbot District and Circuit Court records through Maryland Case Search. Match case number and other identifiers, not name alone.
  4. Check Maryland VINE for the person and the relevant custody or court track. Confirm an alert with its source.
  5. Request the existing booking and discharge record through the county PIA process when the exact outcome or date is needed.
  6. If a source shows transfer, follow it to DPSCS, BOP, ICE, or the named receiving custodian.

Save the URL, check date, spelling used, and any case, booking, or offender number. Public databases change. A dated search note is more useful than a broad claim that someone is free. For a closer look at the only county facility, the Talbot County Detention Center release route explains its records and contacts.

Talbot County Recent Release Search

Talbot County publishes no official 24-hour, 48-hour, or 72-hour release feed. Its county-linked JailTracker configuration uses a current-offenders-only setting. Current entries can include a booking photo, booking date, case and court numbers, charges, bond fields, and physical details. Those fields identify a currently displayed person. They do not preserve a completed release.

The vendor configuration also contains a 400-day released-retention value. That technical setting does not override the public current-only view, create a searchable archive, or establish the county’s legal retention schedule. When a person drops off, use Corrections, both court levels, VINE, and a bounded discharge-record request. There is no sound basis to infer a release time from two roster checks.

Note: Talbot has no verified jail mobile app or routine official social feed for recent release photos.

Talbot Courts After Jail Release

Talbot District Court stands directly across from the detention center, and the Circuit Court Clerk is nearby. The short distance does not merge their records. District Court handles traffic, misdemeanors, and certain felonies without jury trials. Circuit Court handles more serious criminal matters and jury cases. A case may move from District to Circuit, so search both levels when tracing release authority, sentence, probation, or later case action.

Maryland Case Search is a summary, not the full clerk file. Remote results can omit some nolle prosequi, dismissal, acquittal, not-guilty, and older stet outcomes even when a public courthouse file remains, unless another restriction applies. Clerks do not accept phone record requests. Use written or in-person clerk access for the complete file, but pair any release order with Corrections’ actual discharge record.

Talbot Release and Reentry Programs

Talbot Corrections lists Re-Entry, Detention Case Management, House Arrest and Alternative Sentencing, Weekender, Work Release, Pre-trial Services, medication-assisted treatment, and Re-Entry and Community Collaboration. These local programs show that a custody episode may end through several structured paths, not only a direct jail-to-community discharge.

The county does not publish detailed eligibility or enrollment steps for each program. Contact Corrections or its Programs Coordinator instead of guessing from a program name. House arrest, work release, and pretrial service can involve legal control outside a cell and should not be mislabeled as unconditional release. Program participation also does not by itself establish that a past custody episode has closed.

Talbot Detention History and Releases

The present Talbot County Detention Center has operated since 1992. Maryland State Archives material traces the original county jail to 1881, while county material describes the current center’s nine pod-style units. This history identifies the institution and explains why older records may use names such as the county jail, Corrections Facility, or Public Safety Center.

Note: Historic facility names can aid a records request, but they do not establish present release procedures or public access rules.

Historic design and capacity details are not current release rules. No official public schedule, release exit, family waiting zone, gate-money rule, or property-return process was found. Direct those operational questions to Corrections before arranging a pickup. A historic facility description cannot prove where or when someone will leave today.

Talbot Release Alerts and Supervision

Maryland VINE offers free, confidential status checks and phone, email, text, or in-app alerts. It can report release, transfer, escape, court, parole, and probation events when the participating record supplies them. Register again when a case moves between District and Circuit Court, when custody moves from Talbot jail to state prison, and when a person enters parole or probation. One registration does not follow every system boundary.

Maryland has no public name-based parole or probation lookup. The Easton Division of Parole and Probation office can explain the proper process, but contact does not guarantee disclosure of a named person’s status. A court probation entry may be historic, and a parole approval can be delayed by prerelease terms. Talbot County’s Post-Release Supervision details cover these local routes in depth.

Talbot Federal and Immigration Transfers

A Talbot roster disappearance may be a transfer rather than community release. For federal prison history, the BOP Inmate Locator searches records from 1982 forward by federal identifier or by name with added filters. A “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” result confirms departure from BOP only. Another agency may still hold the person.

ICE’s Online Detainee Locator accepts an A-number and country of birth, or biographical search fields. It focuses on current detention and is not a historic release ledger. No result can have several causes, including release, removal, transfer, delay, identity mismatch, or custody elsewhere. The U.S. Marshals Service has no matching general released-person search. Follow a documented Talbot transfer to its receiving system and keep the county transfer record as the link between custodians.

Choose the source by the fact it controls. Current rosters rule in displayed custody. Discharge records document the end of one custodian’s control. Courts explain legal authority and case outcome. Notification tools signal change but do not replace the source record.

Talbot County Detention Center is the county’s only public adult detention facility. It houses pretrial and sentenced people and processes adult arrests countywide. A lawful discharge may return someone to the community, while a transfer may lead to county, state, federal, immigration, medical, or other authorized custody.
